Personality:

Ulrik can come across as a friendly, happy young man, often optimistic and upbeat even though he's suffered heavy trauma in his young life. He can be quite shy with people he's never met before but soon opens up once he starts getting to know someone. He can be slightly reckless and cavalier once he gets with his friends and bandmates, sometimes getting drunk and not know what he did the night before. But usually he's the young, shy one compared to most. He is loyal, charming, sweet and very hard-working, often spending hours on one guitar riff trying to get it right.

Background:

Ulrik grew up in the Swedish city of Jokkmokk along with his older brother, Sven. Being nine years younger than his brother, Ulrik was often thought upon as the baby of the family. Both mother and father worked as fisherfolk for their community and often went out for many hours catching fish to bring back. The young Swede found his love of music when he was around six years of age after visiting a travelling fayre run by the local Saami coming down from Kiruna. Ulrik's father bought him a wooden instrument which resembled a child's guitar. From there on the young Ulrik played it day in day out. His older brother, Sven, was also musically inclined, favoured becoming a vocalist instead.

When Ulrik was ten years old something terrible happened. While out on a skiing trip both parents were killed in an avalanche. The soft snow had built up over the previous winters and something had triggered the mounds of snow to fall, killing them both instantly along with other skiers. It was tragic. Ulrik was then under the protection of his godfather, Magnus, who kept him safe and brought up both boys, with Sven being the young adult and older brother of the family. The toll of losing his parents weighed heavily on the young man as he often just closed his bedroom door and locked himself in for long periods of time. That, or he trekked out into the cold forests just gazing at the landscape, somehow hoping his parents were still alive under the mounds of snow.

Once Sven moved out to become a singer in his own band, Ulrik lived with his godfather for many years, finally going to music school at the age of sixteen. He did well, performing on the electric guitar, a Gibson, which he loved. Sven bought Ulrik a '68 Gibson guitar for his birthday and from then on the young man became extremely talented for someone of his age. At eighteen he met Bjorn Larsson, a singer wanting to start up a band called Blixt, which translated to "Lightning." Ulrik was soon drafted in as lead guitarist as the band formed.
